About the collective
A funk and disco engine room from Geneva — from trio to eight-piece — built around twin lead vocals and a rhythm section with serious dancefloor credentials.
The story
G-Funk Collective came together in Geneva in 2026, grown out of Funk It Up — a Geneva funk band founded in 2010 — into a wider line-up with a bigger repertoire. A shared obsession with the golden age of Philadelphia, Memphis and New York dancefloors brought together musicians from the city's funk, jazz and pop scenes.
The line-up
Four formats: trio (keys & vocals, guitar & bass, drums), quintet (vocals, keys, bass, guitar, drums), sextet (two vocals, keys, bass, guitar, drums), and an eight-piece adding trumpet and saxophone. The line-up is chosen for the room.
Players & past credits
The line-up draws on players from Geneva, Havana, Harare, London and Basel. Their individual credits run wide — the Montreux Jazz Festival, Paléo, Cully Jazz and JazzOnze+, Jazz Plaza in Havana, and fronting the Free Nationals' set at Love Supreme in July 2026.
